Continuing on a programme of planned expansion,
Tridelta opened a new Research and Production facility,
situated in the grounds of the National University of
Ireland, Maynooth, County Kildare. Minister Brennan said at the opening of the new laboratory that: "Tridelta has the potential to become one of the most succesful diagnostic companies worldwide" He went on to add: "There is so much expertise and experience here,... it's a wonderful alliance of know-how and finance." Further drawing on his expertise as a former Minister for both Technology and Education, Minister Brennan spoke in glowing terms about the leading edge work being carried out by Tridelta in conjunction with a number of leading University departments worldwide. He also congratulated NUI Maynooth as: "An excellent example of the academic world embracing the commercial world without losing academic integrity." (Some of the work carried out by Tridelta has been done in co-operation with the Biology Department of NUI.) The company is a fine example of the results of government policy in both recognising Biotechnology as a major future industry of immense importance to Ireland and also of the system of grant aid to allow companies such as Tridelta to take their world leading research and turn it into products which will be utilised world-wide. Minister Brennan concluded his remarks with a reference to a new test being developed by Tridelta which will detect horses suffering from respiratory infections: "Horse 'flu", which is expected to have major significance, particularly to the horse racing industry. |
